Welcome to the Online Home of the
Valencia High School Tiger Regiment
The Tiger Regiment, under the direction of Richard King, includes the Band (marching, wind, symphonic), Jazz Bands (I and II), Colorguard and Drumline. In the fall semester, the Tiger Regiment can be found marching outdoors doing field shows and parades. During the spring season, the Regiment forms Winterguard, Drumline Jazz and various concert band groups. Each requires additional auditions and attends competitive events throughout the season.
At this site, you will find updates and information on all the before mentioned groups because we are all part of the GREAT TIGER REGIMENT.
The calendar link in the left navigation column of each page contains the latest information regarding the upcoming season. We’d just like to highlight the most important ones below:

Music in the Parks
Music in the Parks – multiple dates
Music in the Parks involves a judged competition (in the VHS Auditorium), then admission to a “park” (Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm) where they receive their awards. VHS hosts the events – we do not compete in them.
For every Music in the Parks event we host, the Tiger Regiment receives a $500 check. This is a general fundraiser that goes toward easing the pledge amount each year. We were given the opportunity to host 17 music in the parks events this year – so do the math!!
We need five or six adults for each event and it will last approximately 5 or six hours. You will not be there all by yourself and someone else will be there who has done several events and will show you the ropes!
Student workers are also assigned – you might want to sign up for when your student is working. All dates are listed on the sign-up sheet. You are welcome to sign-up for as many days as you like!

Francisco Torres is a trombonist, bass trombonist, composer, arranger and clinician who hails from the state of Sonora, Mexico but calls Los Angeles, California home. He is equally at home with jazz, classical, latin, funk, reggae, ska, and studio work. He is the trombonist and musical director for the Grammy-Award winning Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band, as well as a member of Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band. Francisco has in recent years produced and arranged for Poncho’s albums garnering several Grammy nominations, as well as developing a small reputation for Latin Jazz arranging. He has performed with Latin greats Cachao, Celia Cruz, Arturo Sandoval, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Victor Manuelle, and can be heard on records by Michael Buble, Dr. Dre, Busta Rhymes, Spoon, and Los Lobos. As a jazz trombonist he has performed with Joey Defrancesco, Terence Blanchard, Natalie Cole, Nicholas Payton, Clare Fischer, Bill Holman, and many others. Television credits include Saturday Night Live, Dancing With The Stars, America’s Got Talent, The Latin Grammys, the ALMA Awards, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and can be heard in the soundtracks of “Confessions Of A Shopaholic”, “Charlie St. Cloud” and “Dance With Me”.
As a Yamaha endorser Francisco maintains a busy touring and clinic schedule, while fitting in studio work when at home. He credits jazz trombone greats Carl Fontana, Frank Rosolino, Andy Martin, and Hal Crook, as well as Latin greats Barry Rogers, Generoso Jimenez, and Leopoldo Pineda as influences. In Francisco’s eyes there is only music, not styles. Ever a perfectionist, he strives to give each and every performance what it requires, in any genre. He is a firm believer that you must honor the music.

Academic Student Assistance Schedule
Each year, as a courtesy for parents, Valencia High School puts together a tutoring schedule that is posted online http://vhstigers.org/tutor_schedule.jsp. It is quite an impressive list of teachers who are willing to give of their time to help their students.
Students who need academic help may find this opportunity useful.
Credit Cards
We accept both MasterCard and Visa credit cards for use in paying band pledges. There are no separate fees or surcharges, so it is a great way to pay your band pledge. Click below or check out the bottom of your monthly pledge statement for how to use this option.

On-Campus Parking
Dear Boosters:
It has come to our attention that a number of groups, including the Tiger Regiment Boosters, have been parking in areas on campus not designated for this use. Specifically, the area directly in front of the band building courtyard, and in front of the foreign language building. Basically, everything up the ramp and beyond the solid yellow “off limits” line.
This area has always been off limits to parking, but was previously cordoned off with a chain (except when loading and unloading trailers). During construction, the chain disappeared, and people started taking advantage of the added space. With all of the groups utilizing the campus these days, parking at the south end is at a premium, but we are guests on campus and must be respectful of all campus regulations.
Over the last year, a great deal of renovation work has been accomplished, with all of the new concrete flatwork in the quad and new floor finishes in many classrooms. Oil and dirt brought up on to the campus blacktop is being tracked inside on shoes and is damaging these brand new finishes. The last thing we want to do is contribute to damaging our new campus, both inside and out.
I would ask everyone to be patient and understanding, and be respectful guests when parking and utilizing school resources. We will work to try and establish some traffic flow solutions, especially when picking students up after practice, football games, or field shows. In the meantime, please do not park in any areas not designated for this purpose (lined with clearly marked parking stalls) and specifically, do not drive up the ramp in front of the band building onto the campus proper.
Thank you for your cooperation.

School Policy of Prior Notice for During School Access
If you are planning to visit a classroom during school hours (parent, booster club representative, IEP meetings, etc.) please send an email to Mr. King explaining who is coming, the date they are coming and time they are coming so that he can notify the front office. This will definitely help the office run smoothly. If they know in advance, they can have you sign in, give you a visitor badge, and send you on your way instead of trying to make those arrangements at the last minute. That will eliminate some of the time and congestion in the office.
Also, former students will only be allowed to visit a classroom if those visitations are pre-arranged. If not notified, the office will not allow them to interrupt the classroom.
