Concert Band

This ensemble will have performance opportunities at SCSBOA Festival as well as concerts and other events. Emphasis on the training of younger players for eventual placement into Symphonic Band or Wind Symphony is the primary goal. In-class playing exams and other forms of assessment will be used to help achieve this goal. SCSBOA class “B” and “C” (grade 4 and 3) music will be performed. Exact instrumentation and balance of the group is at the discretion of the director. Percussionists who seek additional experience or who cannot afford spring semester competition season are encouraged to enroll in this class.

Concert Dress

Students are required to wear the following attire for all instrumental music concerts and festivals:

• Black shirt (button-down type; no polo shirts or t-shirts)
• Black Tie
• Black dress pants (Dockers™ or Dickies™ are okay)
• Black dress shoes with black dress socks (NO TENNIS SHOES)

Ladies are expected to use good judgment in applying these standards to their concert attire. Questions about concert dress should be directed to one’s section leader first, and then to the directors if necessary. Failure to dress appropriately for concerts and other events may result in a student’s grade being lowered.
