Volunteer Opportunities for Shows Hosted at VHS
Volunteer Opportunities for Other Events
V.I.P. (Valencia Instrumental Parents) is the non-profit Booster organization (run by some Very Involved Parents) that provides financial and volunteer support for the Tiger Regiment.
Just some of the many things we do are: raise and manage funds to purchase and maintain Tiger Regiment equipment, instruments, and uniforms; coordinate event logistics; organize and staff Tiger Regiment hosted competitions and events; and assist with other student activities supporting the goals and efforts of the Tiger Regiment director and staff.
To help offset some of the costs (for uniform upkeep, equipment, props, instrument maintenance/repair, entrance fees and our exceptional support staff), the Tiger Regiment coordinates several fundraising activities throughout the year. The biggest share of revenue comes from the competitions we host at VHS, and are dependent on VIP families volunteering their time.
Additionally, the Tiger Regiment hosts Music in the Parks on several Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings in the spring. The Music in the Parks program offers schools from outside Orange County a weekend “field trip” that combines a music competition (in our auditorium) with a trip to Disneyland or Knott’s. There are many more Music in the Parks events than shows, but they require a fraction of the VIP volunteers per event, while still generating much-needed revenue for the Tiger Regiment.
Below you will find the types of volunteer duties available per event, as well as the other functions in which your student will be participating. The VIP board provides training and support for volunteers. Other family members or friends are welcome to fill shifts where Tiger Regiment parents are not available to attend.
When and where do we meet?
General Boosters Meetings are held at 7:30pm on the 2nd Tuesday of the month in the Band or Choir Room. Please refer to the online Tiger Regiment Calendar for specific dates. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend, but you don’t have to attend the meetings to be involved. Please let anyone on the VIP Board know if you have questions or would like more information.
