We have a lot of news to get you caught up on for the next two weeks. We encourage you to find ways to get involved as there will be many opportunities. Keep coming back to the website for more updates as they become available. We will go chronologically below…let’s get started!

Chipotle Restaurant Fundraiser – Tuesday October 5 4-8PM

Hopefully you’ve seen the posts on social media and already have this on your calendar. Join us at Chipotle on the corner of Yorba Linda and Kraemer on October 5 anytime between 4-8PM. Of course it’s perfect for ordering before your student heads off to rehearsal that night!

If you order via the mobile app or online for pickup, you must use the promo code “LRCBB8G” on checkout. They will not allow you to add the promo code when you go to pick up. If you decide to order at the register for an in-person order, simply show them the flyer. Click the links here for either the Spanish or English flyer.

Thank you for your continued support!

Valencia Classic Field Show Planning Meeting – Tuesday October 5 6:30-8PM

The Classic Field Show is coming quick and we would love your involvement as we make final preparations. Come after you pick up your Chipotle and be a part of the process! We look forward to seeing you there. We pushed it back to 6:30pm to make sure we had enough time to get through everything and still time to go out for the last bit of the student’s rehearsal time.

VHS vs Pacifica Home Football Game – Friday October 8

We have another opportunity to support the school, the football team, and the fans. The band will again play pep tunes, but also perform the field show at half time. The students have been working hard and making incredible progress with the show and we can’t wait for you to see it live! We encourage you to come out and support the school as well as the students as they perform. Buy tickets to the game online here.

As always, we can use your help and by volunteering, you can also get in for free. Here again are the ways you can help:

  • Call time for the students is 5:30pm. They will get into their uniforms and warm up to start heading to the stadium at 6pm.
  • Students need to wear athletic shorts, black shirt, and long black socks. Long hair needs to be pinned up or in a bun for the shakos
  • Students need to bring their band polo shirt to change into after the half-time performance (jeans optional)
  • We need several parents to help volunteer (remember, you get into the game free if you do!):
    • We will need a few parents to help set out the bleacher seat covers at the stadium and get the water jug ready
    • For the half-time performance we will need several parent volunteers to help push the equipment onto the field. You will be given direction.
    • After the game, we will need everyone’s help to put everything back (bleacher seat covers, water jugs, uniforms, etc.)

Saturday October 9 is a BIG DAY

Actually, October 16 is also a big day too, but we’ll get to that…

There are three events happening on Saturday, October 9th: the Placentia Heritage Day Parade, Volunteer Training for the Valencia Classic Field Show, and Parent Preview Night. Read on for the specifics!

Heritage Day Parade – 7-11:30AM

The students have been working hard learning the parade march and we’re excited to see them shine as they walk down Kraemer Blvd. The marching band will be one of the first to parade down the street, so be sure to plan your seats early to get the best view.

The students need to report to the band room at 7AM to get into their uniforms. So come dressed in a black t-shirt and athletic shorts and be sure they have their marching shoes (Dinkles). They will tentatively be back to the band room to be picked up around 11:30AM.

CALL FOR HELP: if you have a pick up truck or large SUV, we could use your help in transporting some of the larger instruments from the school to the parade. Please reach out to Bianca at president@tigerregiment.org if you can help us.

We could use some parents to help walk the parade route. It will mostly involve helping to provide water to the students as they march. If you would like to help, please reach out to Bianca at president@tigerregiment.org

Valencia Classic Field Show Training – 5-6PM

For the parents who are volunteering, this will be a time to review in greater detail each area’s responsibilities and discuss the flow for the day. It will be very important for all those who are volunteering to attend this training.

We are looking at providing a food truck between 6-7PM. More details to come.

Parent Preview Night – 7PM

This will be an exciting night as the students will be able to give a preview of everything they’ve been working on up to this point as they prepare for their first field show the following week.

The parents will also join their students on the field and be given an opportunity to experience a little bit of what it’s like to do the movements of the show and especially with their instrument. It’s a fun time to share and celebrate their accomplishments as we look forward to a great field show season.

Valencia Classic Field Show Update – October 16

Our biggest need continues to be having parents sign up to volunteer throughout the day. Remember, it is requested that at least one family member for each student volunteer some of their time to the show. If you haven’t signed up to help, please do so here! Even though time slots are not specified on the sign up form, feel free to specify when you’ll be available. That will help us in planning out our official volunteer schedule.

Also, if there’s a section you’d like to volunteer, but it’s filled up, sign up to be a floater and provide your time availability and preference. As we get closer to the show, we may discover we need additional help and open up more slots to accommodate that. We will keep you posted – but always be sure to check out the Classic Field Show web page for the latest updates.

Savers FUNDrive Update – ONE LAST CALL!

We are so grateful for all the donations that have poured in, including this past weekend. We sorted through the bags of donations today and we’re just shy of what we brought in last spring.

Help get us over the top and see if each student can bring in one more 13 gallon kitchen trash bag full of donations! Maybe go around your neighborhood and see if anyone is needing to donate some soft goods that you’d be happy to take from them.

Bring your final donation to Tuesday night’s rehearsal and leave them at the trailers. We will provide a final report next week of how well we did! Thank you to everyone who donated!

Fall Raffle Fundraiser

Our last news update had a lot of details about this, so we encourage you to read that for the latest information. This could become one of our largest fundraisers this season, so be sure to help your student sell their initial 10 raffle tickets…and then come back for more!

We will be doing the drawing at the field show on October 16. So get out this week and get those tickets sold!

If you have questions, contact Gaby at gruvalcaba@me.com.

Beyond this week, make sure you have these events on your calendar

  • October 15 – Homecoming Football game – they will be performing the field show BEFORE the game and pep music during the game
  • October 16 – Valencia Classic Field show that we host
  • October 23 – Kennedy HS Field Show
  • October 30 – Irvine HS Field Show

Family Donations Update

We wanted to update you that statements will be going out tonight to let you know what has been donated thus far. If you don’t receive an email by tomorrow, please email our treasurer, JC at treasurer@tigerregiment.org. Be sure to include your name and your student’s name in your email so she can match up the account and get you a current statement.

In a recent update, we highlighted the importance of the family donations to help with funding all the aspects of the Tiger Regiment program which, as you know, is funded primarily by parents and associated fundraising activities. We are still underfunded and continue to need your help. Be sure to check your statement to see where you stand and then consider an additional donation.

As a reminder, families are asked to make a $600 per student donation for the fall marching season, which can be made all at once or in payments. We have several ways to submit your family donations including Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, or P.O. Box. Instructions for all of these are located on the fundraising page of our website.

Please note: Your student will not be denied participation in the program nor singled out due to any inability to make donations. It is our hope that if you can donate to the program, you will. Check our fundraising page often as we will make every effort to list as many opportunities for fundraising as we can.
